How do I test my app on my own phone?

Updated October 12, 2026

The short answer

You test an app on your phone before release in two ways: a preview build you open directly on the device while building, or a test version you distribute to a limited group through Apple's and Google's official testing tools. A preview in the browser is not enough, because a real phone reveals what a computer hides: the keyboard, speed, notifications and weak networks. Test on at least two devices.

  • send a test version of my app to testers

The steps

  1. 1
Open the preview on your phone

Most building tools give you a code or a link that opens the app on your device while it is still being built.

  2. 2
Complete the main task end to end

Create a new account, order or book, and pay with test details if there is payment.

  3. 3
    Try bad conditions

A weak network, airplane mode and back, closing the app in the middle of an action.

  4. 4
    Distribute a test version

Give it to five people from your audience through the store's testing track, and ask them to do one specific task.

  5. 5
    Note, fix and repeat

Every finding is written with its steps, and after the fix you run the same test again.

What to look at on the device

  • Does the keyboard cover the text field or the send button?
  • Are buttons big enough for a thumb?
  • Are Arabic text and direction right on every screen?
  • How long do opening the app and loading the first screen take?
  • What happens when camera or notification permission is refused?

Testing that helps and testing that fools you

Fools you
  • Testing only on your new phone.
  • Using your old account full of data.
  • Trying only the happy path with no mistakes.
Helps you
  • An old phone and a new one, iPhone and Android.
  • A fresh empty account, like a first user.
  • Wrong input and an invalid phone number on purpose.

How do I publish my app to the app stores?

Publishing to both stores takes five stages: open a developer account with Apple and one with Google, prepare the store page with a name, description and screenshots, fill in privacy details and the content rating, upload the build, then wait for store review. Review may approve the app or ask for changes, and nobody can guarantee approval. Read each store's official guidelines before you submit.

How can I make a mobile app?

There are three ways to make a mobile app: learn to program and build it yourself, which takes months; hire a freelancer or a company and pay for their time; or use an AI builder that creates the app from your description. Whichever you choose, start with a small version that solves one problem, test it on real phones, then prepare it for the Apple and Google stores.

Is my site ready to launch? What should I check?

Your site is ready when a new customer can finish the main task on a phone without help, a test payment succeeds and a declined one fails correctly, Arabic and English both work, there are no broken links or leftover placeholder text, the site runs on your domain with a security certificate, and you have a backup and a way to roll back. Everything else can improve after opening.

How do I make a mobile app in Arabic (RTL)?

A proper Arabic app is not a translated English one. The whole layout must mirror right to left: menus, back arrows, the navigation bar and the order of items in each row, while numbers, phone numbers and emails stay left to right. You also need a clear Arabic font and text written in Arabic from the start. The easiest route is to build Arabic-first and add English second.
