What can you do on each device?
| Device | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary laptop | Building and editing a full 2D game | An up-to-date browser and a steady connection |
| Phone | Playing the game and small changes in plain words | A small screen is tiring for long work |
| Old or weak device | Light 2D games | 3D worlds may run slowly |
What do you really need?
- A modern, updated browser.
- An internet connection while you build.
- A small idea written in three sentences.
- At least one phone to try the touch controls on.
Why don't you need a powerful machine?
Traditional tools such as game engines are installed on your computer and use its memory and processor, which is why their makers recommend strong hardware. With tools that run in the browser, the heavy work happens away from your machine and you only see the result. What stays on your device is running the game itself, and 2D games are very light at that.
